BIOGRAPHY

Artist Statement: Creating Order out of Chaos

The subject matter for my work is developed through guided imagery and meditation. It is what I call visual poetry.   I work on paper and mix my mediums: charcoal, acrylic, graphite, pastel, gesso, oil crayon, ink and water. I work on paper. My tools are my hands, fingers, wet and dry brushes, sandpaper, sticks, and squeegees to move the mediums. I am inspired by Clyfford Still for movement, Hans Hoffmann for displacement of form, George Rouault for line, Arthur Dove and John Marin for energy, Lee Krasner for gesture, and Agnes Martin for silence. I feel gratitude when I achieve balance of the natural and spiritual worlds and the familiar and unfamiliar.  Making art allows me complete freedom from the material world.
