Animals have always played an integral part in my work and life. Oftentimes they are referential to a thought or memory. This work embodies birds and fish in environments that are both mysterious and familiar.
My latest series of works, Waking Dreams; the muse is the places we travel in dreams and the forgotten moments between the memories of our dreams and reality. Studios are for artists very sacred spaces; I often feel like I am entering a dream when I enter the studio. There is a freedom in my studio that I cannot achieve anywhere else. Finding a way to represent the feeling of traveling through visual dreams that are conjured in the studio was the impetus of the series.
